Working Bee Day – Saturday 15th of October.

Tug at Parafield

Given the tug’s absence for its annual inspection, the weekend was a good day to get a few jobs done around the club and airfield.

A willing band of workers assembled in the morning to start on a modest but achievable list with some great results.

Thanks to Art who smoothed out a few bumps in the track on the eastern side fence of the clubhouse – not so much “rock and roll” when getting or returning a trailer from the park. And thanks again to Art and Michael Scutter for painting the hut doors. Michael is also a whiz on the ride-on and cleaned up the weeds around the trailers.

Bill and Art made a start on revising the Club’s documentation that is in need of a refresh. John Spronk made some great progress on the discus trailer conversion. The front extension has now been welded on and once the drawbar is finished it will be time to arrange the fittings for the glider in the trailer. We have most of these from the current trailer plus those that came with the trailer we are modifying.

David Jones cleaned out the front and rear tracks of the main hangar and we have some actions planned to address the sticking doors on the western side.

gazanias

I did some repairs to the spray unit and then sprayed some of the larger areas of gazanias.

I will also look to doing some spot spraying of the plants that are creeping back into the pads over the coming months. I also took down the old projector in the Clubhouse and set up the new projector which was donated by Cath Conway.

Our new caretakers Doug and Gale have hit the ground running. They have already done a lot of weeding around the hangar and clubhouse, slashing in the caravan park and tie-down area and cleaning of the bathrooms and members kitchen. The stainless steel sinks look amazing!

All in all, a good start for the upcoming season. Thanks again to all those who helped out.
