The SA Coaching Team runs an annual coaching week, currently held at Waikerie Gliding Club. This year's event starts on Sunday 27 December and finishes on Saturday 2 January 2010.
It is organised by Bernard Eckey, head coach for SA & NT. Each year has been progressively more successful than the last, with over 50 participants in 2008 and 30 gliders attending. Organizers are providing for all levels of experience. Both winch and aerotow will be available. Novice pilots are just as welcome to attend as advanced cross country pilots. Andrew Wright will be looking after our less experienced pilots and a number of instructors will provide individual training for pre-solo students. Theory sessions with power point presentations in the morning will be followed by practical flying in the afternoon and debriefings in the evening. Even outlanding training in motorgliders is available, thanks to Catherine Conway and Nigel Baker. A number of social activities and a wind-up dinner will be held to ensure the week is good fun. You may like to read reports from people who attended in 2005 and 2007. A group of coaches will guide more advanced pilots around more challenging tasks. Most coaching will be conducted on a lead and follow basis but an opportunity exists for coaching flights in an ASH25, Nimbus 4DM and other 2-seaters (tba). A trophy will be presented to the most improved pilot
as well as various other prizes and an attendance
certificate.
FLARM: All gliders must be equipped with FLARM. LATEST NEWS: Significant interest has already been shown with approximately 35 early enrolments. Glider pilots from interstate and overseas are joining us again. Ingo Renner will be joining us this year and will let us tap into his wealth of experience and expertise. Ingo will coach in a 2-seater. Other top coaches from across Australia have also volunteered their time. Coaches:
