Waikerie Gliding Club began with a small group of gliding enthusiasts in 1937. Since those pioneering days, the Club has gone through many changes.

Waikerie is world renowned for the fantastic soaring conditions which prevail over a generally long, hot summer. The surrounding countryside offers excellent cross country soaring.

The Club has something for anyone interested in gliding, whether you are trying gliding for the first time, or an experienced glider pilot looking for a great place to extend yourself.

In 2004 and 2005, the Club ran the Australian Clubclass Nationals at Waikerie: and in 2010 the Multiclass Nationals. The competitions went well, with a couple of huge "Waikerie days". Some South Australian state competitions have been flown at Waikerie.

What's New Here?

• Our full time operations period is from 26th December 2011 until 15th January 2012.
• ORANGE WEEK will be the highlight of this period. It's a return to the Waikerie skies for all pilots seeking loads of fun in a serious competition. Competition days will be Monday 2nd to Sunday 8th January and tasks will include Grand Prix, AAT/AST/RUN as well as seriously challenging tasks. Early registrations will avoid the entry limit.
• SAGA Coaching Week runs from December 27th to 1st January
