Waikerie Gliding Club's fleet allows glider pilots a wide choice. Most of the gliders are owned by the club, with a few being cross hired from their owners. The prices for booking are on the Sailplane Hire page.
All our gliders have as standard equipment:
Our fleet allows for pilots of any experience level
Training is done in our Twin Astirs. Our new glider pilots fly this type until they go solo. The Twins are also used for check flights, cross country and some advanced training. News, April 2008: The club has purchased an AS K21, and we expect it to be here in a few months. In the meantime, the Twins are still available, and the lovely Duo Discus is once more available to pilots with enough experience! Usually, the first single seater our students fly is the Astir CS 77. This glider is also suitable for early cross country flights, and then new pilots can move on to the more advanced single seaters. Experience requirements for our gliders are on the Sailplane hire page.
Seasoned cross country pilots will appreciate the Discus b, LS-4a, LS-7 and Mosquito. The LS-4 has an L-Nav flight computer, while the LS-7 and Mosquito are fitted with GPS and Borgelt B-100 flight computers. These aren't hard to use: see the page about getting started with the B-100. Our tug is a Piper Pawnee. |
